Department of Nutrition & Dietetics

Overview:

At the Synergy Institute of Medical Sciences, the Nutrition and Dietetics Departmentprovides “personalized diet programs” that are health-protecting and whichalso has a therapeutic component.

The Department of Food & Nutrition Services is committed to providing the highest quality nutritional care.

Our nutritionists are specialized in many nutritional areas

The department coordinates all aspects of patients’ nutritional care and provides attractive, nutritious meals made with high quality ingredients. In addition, we strive to offer a variety of menus to meet the preferences and needs of our patients. Menu options include vegetarian, heart-healthy, sodium-restricted, diabetic, gluten-free and high protein diets. Nutritional supplements are provided as per the need of the patients. 

The Nutrition and Dietetics department conducts nutritional assessment along with dietary consultation with the treating doctors andother health care professionals to review patients’ clinical charts and develop nutritional plans to meet patients’ individual nutritional requirements. 

The team of dieticians work with the catering and clinical team to ensure that all patients are offered appropriate foods to meet their nutritional requirements, considering their medical condition, dietary and/ or cultural restrictions.

Comprehensive diet therapy is available for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Orthopedic and Rheumatic Diseases
  • Renal Diseases
  • Cardiac Diseases
  • Hyper Uricemia
  • Eating DIsorder
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Pediatrics
  • Weight Management
  • Elevated Cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • High Blood Pressure
Inpatient Services
  • Our Inpatient services include providing dietetic service to all patients. The service is available from Monday to Saturday, between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
  • We use a range of assessment techniques in a protocolized mannerto devise and review nutritional plans for patients. The aim of treatment is to improve nutritional status to aid recovery, or to control damaging biochemistry, e.g. in diabetes, renal disease.
  • The patients we see have various types of nutritional problems/ requirements for example: Diabetes, High Caloric requirements for malnourished patients, critically ill patients requiring alternative feeding regiment such as enteral and parenteral nutrition as they are unable to feed themselves.                              
Outpatient Services:
  • If you need a dietitian or the health care team requires you to visit a dietitian during consultation, you may be referred to the Nutritionist-Dietitian OPD.
  • We also offer osteorized feeding demo for relatives of patients who are unable to feed themselves.
